The AMG DNA - what makes a Mercedes-AMG?

Performer through and through - every Mercedes-AMG is developed and designed holistically in Affalterbach right from the vehicle architecture planning stage of a new Mercedes-Benz model.

This is particularly true of the Mercedes-AMG GT models, which were created entirely in-house. Over 800 of our 2000 employees work in development alone. The optimal mutual harmonisation of all components results in a vehicle that is not only fun to drive on the road, but also on the race track. We develop vehicles with truly special DNA based on this strong expertise. The AMG DNA.

Unleash passion, master performance.

The heart of AMG Driving Performance is always the engine. But it is the precise interaction of the entire drivetrain and the perfect harmonisation of the chassis that bring the power of the engine to the road.

With a Mercedes-AMG, you experience acceleration first-hand: immediate, intense, powerful, impressive. This is thanks to the unique AMG Performance drive systems. They stand for dynamic responsiveness and high agility - combined with top performance and outstanding efficiency.

Perfectly coordinated passion.

You can also get from A to B in a Mercedes-AMG, but in your own individual way. At the same time, you will have a lot of fun, because basically you see every bend in the road as an invitation.

You drive actively and consciously, because driving dynamics is an expression of your personality. Your Mercedes-AMG supports you at every moment, as innovative AMG chassis technology ensures a balance between dynamics and control, serving a single goal: the feeling of being in control of every bend - and not the other way round.

We make adrenalin audible.

Press the start button and the passion begins. Unambiguous. Clear. The powerful, sonorous rumble of the exhaust system is one of the unmistakable trademarks of every Mercedes-AMG.

At the same time, each model makes its very own sound statement. Precisely tuned to the selectable drive programs, the whole sound experience develops as the car is driven. There is just the right sound track for every driving situation. A unique symphony for emotional performance enthusiasts like you.

AMG Performance is always recognisable by its design.

Anyone who encounters a Mercedes-AMG on the road sees emotion in motion. Anyone who drives it makes a passionate statement. The dominant and unmistakable design language shows at first glance

that every Mercedes-AMG is an uncompromising commitment to performance. AMG-specific radiator trim and large air intakes give every Mercedes-AMG vehicle a unique look. Striking side sill panels, diffuser, model-dependent rear wing and up to four exhausttailpipes make the motorsport affinity visible.

The image shows a Mercedes-AMG AMG 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine.

At the heart of every Mercedes-AMG model is the engine, for example the 4.0-litre V8 biturbo in several output levels between 350 kW (476 hp) and 470 kW (639 hp). Typical features are spontaneous response, outstanding power delivery, performance values at racing level, high efficiency and the V8 engine sound typical of the brand.

    AMG transmission

The image shows the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7G.

The AMG SPEEDSHIFT transmission supports you in a particularly dynamic driving style and brings genuine motorsport flair to every trip. Sporty, fast gear changes or barely noticeable shifting depending on the driving mode: with up to nine gears, the engine is predominantly in the optimal speed range.

    AMG brakes

The image illustrates the AMG high-performance composite brake system.

The AMG high-performance composite brake system with large brake discs provides excellent deceleration values and precise brake control. The brake system impresses with short stopping distances, sensitive response and last but not least high stability and a long service life – even under extreme demands.

    AMG TRACK PACE

Record your lap of the track directly from your car's infotainment system. View delta times in the fully digital instrument cluster, see the braking points of your chosen reference lap in the head-up display and find out about your current performance through audible signals from the sound system and visual effects from the ambient lighting. Or connect your smartphone to synchronously record a race video and transfer all race data to compare their laps side by side.

    Project ONE

The Mercedes-AMG Project ONE, a two-seater super sports show car, brings state-of-the-art Formula 1 hybrid technology from the race track to the road. The plug-in hybrid powertrain incorporates an intelligently networked unit comprising a 1.6-litre V6 hybrid petrol engine with four electric motors, producing more than 736 kW
Figures for rated output and rated torque pursuant to Regulation (EC) No. 715/2007 as amended.
(1000 hp).

    One Man, One Engine

High-quality craftsmanship from a single source.

We traditionally build the 4- and 8-cylinder engines by hand according to the "One Man, One Engine" philosophy. A single technician assembles the engine and in the process is responsible for all the steps, from the installation of the crankshaft and assembly of the camshafts to the wiring and the filling with engine oil – visibly testified by the technician's signature on the AMG engine badge.
