SLK 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY – the Roadster with 4-cylinder diesel power

Fun at the wheel can now be had in an SLK with a diesel engine, too. Powerful, fast, yet with exceptionally low consumption and low emissions - these are the headline characteristics of the leading-edge 2.1-litre diesel engine with two-stage turbocharger. Its impressively low consumption of 4.9 - 5.0 litres (combined) and CO2 emissions of 128 - 132 g/km make it the most economical roadster in its segment. Yet it offers true sports-car performance: acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes just 6.7 seconds.

Stepping on the gas while already in motion is even more fun - the engine quickly develops maximum torque from a low engine speed and with it, in-gear acceleration in a class of its own.

  • Innovative technologies: the fourth-generation common rail technology is impressive for its increased injection pressure (2000 bar), optimised combustion chambers and the extreme precision of its injectors.
  • High torque: ignition pressure and charging have been optimised, giving full torque across the whole engine speed range.
  • Resource-conserving mobility: the ECO start/stop function saves on diesel fuel and eases the burden on the environment.
  • Increased smoothness of operation: two Lanchester balancer shafts ensure vibrations are minimised at all engine speeds.
